'RAFA BENITEZ has been left scratching his head after receiving a
bizarre 'well done' message from Manchester United manager Alex Ferguson.
The Reds boss has been flooded with messages of congratulations
following Liverpool's Champions League success in Istanbul last month.
But the lengthy letter from the Old Trafford boss has left Benitez
wondering what to make of it.
The Reds' boss was inundated by traditional messages of congratulation,
but Ferguson's proved more cryptic.
Benitez revealed: "I received congratulations from people all over
England and Spain. Ferguson sent me a very strange one with a tactical
evaluation - on his personalised paper - of Liverpool's performance in
the whole competition, and particularly the final."
Benitez did not reveal the exact contents of the note, but added he is
now looking to the future and determined to improve his squad ahead of
the new season.
"The next objective is to make a good team who can be competitive," he
added.
"The reality is that we have a lot to improve, that there have to be
some changes. It's necessary to revitalise the squad and strengthen some
positions."
