Football Club United of Manchester
The Manifesto: Who We Are and What We Mean FC United of Manchester is a new football club founded by disaffected and disenfranchised Manchester United supporters. Our aim is to create a sustainable club for the long term which is owned and democratically run by its members, which is accessible to all the communities of Manchester and one in which they can participate fully. Although driven by very different circumstances, FC United of Manchester takes as its inspiration a number of supporters’ groups who have gone down this route, including AFC Wimbledon, who have offered unstinting support. FC United of Manchester is intended to create a football club which addresses the concerns which many Manchester United fans have had over the last decade or more with how the club and football have developed, culminating in the club’s takeover by Malcolm Glazer. We will follow the best traditions of Manchester United’s past by developing policies which encourage youth participation in terms of both playing and supporting. FC United of Manchester will be formed as a member-owned, democratic, and non-profit making entity on the Industrial and Provident Society company model. The EGM will focus on the election of a board of directors by the members, and the direction of the club over the coming season. We have ambitious and long term plans. Above all we want to be seen as a good example of how a club can be run in the interests of its members and be of benefit to its local communities. However, we are a new club and will require patience in order to reach our goals. With the help of all our members and supporters we are confident we can achieve them. Seven core principles of how the club will operate are set out below, and once agreed by the membership, will be protected by all elected Board members: The Board will be democratically elected by its members. Decisions taken by the membership will be decided on a one member, one vote basis. The club will develop strong links with the local community and strive to be accessible to all, discriminating against none. The club will endeavour to make admission prices as affordable as possible, to as wide a constituency as possible. The club will encourage young, local participation - playing and supporting - whenever possible. The Board will strive wherever possible to avoid outright commercialism. The club will remain a non-profit organisation. |

'New Order's England World Cup song, World In Motion is one of the most successful football songs in history. And yesterday bassist Peter Hook was in a studio in Chorlton, putting his stamp on a new football anthem for Manchester United to lift fans whose spirits have been dampened by the Malcolm Glazer takeover. "We can't change the business side of football but we can give the fans a voice," he tells me. "This track is for the fans. The Glazers are business men, it's important to give them a chance but it's really important that they know that it's the fans from Manchester and Salford that make the club and without the fans they would be nothing. I grew up in the shadow of Old Trafford in Ordsall. United is very important to me, it goes all the way through. It becomes very emotional when people think they are going to lose something they've always had so it's nice to be able to do something and I think that the track will stand up for itself." The track is a cheery, catchy song and Hooky hopes to secure a record deal to release it as a single in the next few weeks. It uses the music from one of Hanky Park's tracks Come On with new lyrics written by lead singer James Davenport and manager Ed Blaney, including the terracing-style chant: "We'll never die, we'll never die, we'll keep the Red flag flying high, Man United we'll never die." And yesterday, Hooky and James invited fans down to add their voice on the track. One of the more well known faces at the Chorlton recording studio was Celebrity Fame Academy winner Will Mellor, who took time out from filming his new ITV Detective series MIT in London to support the protest single. "I've hardly had any sleep to get here on time, but when James rang and told me about it I wanted to get involved," he says. "This song is all about the real fans and it would be great to get them chanting in the ground." And it wasn't just homegrown fans who wanted to get a piece of the action. One United supporter, Randi Andersen, had come all the way from Norway to play her part in standing up to the new American owners. The database manager became a United fan while studying at UMIST and has since returned for games at least six times a year. "It's sad but I won't go to Old Trafford again," she tells me. "I've flown over to support the meeting for the breakaway club FC United and heard about this song. I really wanted to come along and I've had a great time." So, it looks like Hooky's team have had some success in cheering the fans already. James jokes: "We don't hope that by releasing the single that we will change the Glazer's position, but who knows, if we sell 500m copies we could buy the Stretford end." |
специально для тебя, мой белорусский друг со сложным ником 8)
http://www.unitedrant.co.uk/archives...ords_mass.html выдержка: RANT: How is a club, which made a post-tax profit of less than Ј20m in the last financial year, going to afford to pay Ј550m plus interest in debt over seven years? GLAZER: Plan A is to screw the fans of every last penny they have - ticket prices will rocket, merchandise will go up, we'll release 15 different shirts a season and we'll make the players go on endless pointless 'tours'. Plan B is that we flog our own TV rights, screwing the rest of the Premiership in the process. Plan C, when we get in real trouble, is to sell all the players, the training ground and Old Trafford. Plan D, when the banks move in for the kill, is that we fuck off back to Tampa safe in the knowledge that relatively little of our own money has actually gone into purchasing the club. RANT: You mentioned ticket prices. How can you justify a 54% ticket price hike when they have already gone up by 24% this season? GLAZER: We own 99% of the club now so you'll just have to lump it. Let's face it you love United so you'll keep coming no matter how hard we fuck you. We could get out that 18 inch rubber cock and rip you a new one and you'd still come to Old Trafford. Hahahaha! RANT: You've got absolutely no experience in running a football club, what makes you a "fit and proper director" as defined by the Football Association's own rules? GLAZER: I'm not, in fact I've never run a successful business of any kind. Lucky for me that the FA's new Chief Executive is a Scouser so I could put myself in the team, shit on the pitch during a match and relocate United to Timbuktu and the FA wouldn't give a fuck. RANT: Why the fuck does your dad wear his trousers up around his neck? GLAZER: He's really one of those tramps you see on the street who smells of piss and takes cans out of the bin in the vain hope that a little bit of White Lightening will be left in the bottom. RANT: You're a real cunt aren't you? GLAZER: Yeah but what the fuck are you going to do about it? Hahahahaha! |
