NOT FOR SALE -
Red News: After my call to Vodafone last Thursday requesting my PAC number, and telling them my reasons for leaving, I had someone from their customer services or something call me up again today. After I questioned him as to why he was ringing me and asking security questions, he eventually asked got round to saying "You called last week to request your PAC number saying you wanted to leave vodafone. I was just calling to ask you why?" "I told them I was a Utd fan, and I was leaving because I didn't approve of the takeover of Manchester United and didn't want to give my money to any of the sponsors of the club!" He said he understood even though he wasn't a utd fan. He also added that I was by no means the first person to cancel my account since last week and that they had had "quite a few" customers do the same!! So obviously our tactics are having some effect on our sponsors!!! Rob. P.S.
Shareholders United
Shareholders United: IMPORTANT - YOU MUST READ THIS IT IS NOT THE END, IT IS NOT EVEN THE BEGINNING OF THE END.................. Make no mistake, Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United is a hostile one. Unwanted and unwelcomed by fans, Board, manager, players and almost everyone connected with the club. This much is totally clear, not least in the reaction of fans from all over who have joined SU in recent days, more than 3,000 have signed up since last Thursday - smashing all previous records. We have been inundated with offers of help and money, our website, switchboard and helpdesk swamped with enquiries, applications and encouragement. If Malcolm Glazer and his bankers are sitting back thinking that they have won and that everything will fall into their hands, that resistance will fade away.......well they don't have a clue about the people of Manchester and Manchester United fans in particular. Don't they understand that - we'll never die, we'll never die? Be assured that in the next few days, you will hear about the next steps being taken to ensure that Malcolm Glazer's tenure in possession of our club is as brief as possible, both from SU and from the wider Not For Sale coalition. In particular, plans for peaceful protest at Cardiff nave been discussed and the announcement will be made on Thursday - but black will be the theme, to mark the passing of our club temporarily into the hands of a unwanted predator. BLOOD, TOIL, TEARS & SWEAT............. Malcolm Glazer will be applying to de-list United from the Stock Exchange as soon as possible, perhaps 3 weeks from the offer document being posted to shareholders. This is expected tomorrow at the earliest, and all documents relating to the offer must be made available for inspection (probably in London at the offices of Allen & Overy, legal advisers to Glazer - check the offer document for details when it arrives). Members are encouraged to exercise their right of inspection as often as they feel they need to fully understand the complex offer documentation. Please remember to form an orderly queue and smile for the cameras....... And don't forget, Malcolm has to call a Extraordinary General Meeting to take the company private and leverage the company's assets. Given the pressure he is under from his bankers and the hedge funds that have granted him hideously expensive loans to take him to 75%, he will want to call that EGM quickly. If at that time there is a minority stake big enough to resist compulsory purchase of the minority by Glazer, then the EGM could be an interesting and lively affair, with thousands of angry and frustrated supporter-shareholders making their valid points to Malcolm and his cronies and placemen. DON'T LET'S KILL ALL THE LAWYERS JUST YET............... Once the shares are de-listed, the only buyer out there is Glazer under his mandatory offer. So there will come a point in the near future when we will be advised or forced to stop making share purchases. Up until that point, we intend to continue to buy shares with the funds deposited for the purpose by our members and from cash donations, in order to ensure that we achieve the minimum % thresholds to allow us to take legal action to (i) prevent Glazer from taking the company private or (ii) prevent him leveraging the plc's assets, and (iii) to prevent a compulsory minority buyout. An announcement will be made concerning these thresholds and the viability of legal actions once we have completed our consultations with our legal advisers and received the results of our survey of individual shareholders which was sent out 10 days ago. FROM THE ASHES, THERE AROSE A PHOENIX................. What happens after we can't buy any more shares? We are asking our members to continue contributing money towards a realistic and achievable plan to bring about the end of Glazer's temporary possession of Manchester United and the future ownership of the club by its supporters. How? At the point where we cease to make share purchases we intend to hold cash contributions in the SU Share Scheme bank account while we go through the procedures required to set up a new vehicle - a dedicated high interest investment savings account. This account will retain members funds (allocated to each member according to contributions and paying interest to each member) and build up a war chest which can be used to buy back Manchester United (hopefully at a knock down price) when Glazer chooses to sell out or is forced to do so buy his backers calling in the loans. So please do not stop your standing orders, contributions or donations - we will be amending the details on our application forms (both online and paper) to reflect this alternative option. This is still at the planning stage and full details are not yet available Members contributing cash will, of course be entitled to withdraw their cash (net of any charges as normal) at any time. We are in discussions with our bankers and with fund managers about setting this fund up in the near future and we will advise members in due course. We should make it clear that we are not giving our members any financial advice on this plan and if in any doubt, consult your financial adviser. As we have done with the share scheme, SU intends to continue to act responsibly and prudently with our members' funds. The 'working title' for this fund is 'The Phoenix Fund' because we hope it will be there to rebuild Manchester United from 'the ashes'. It is quite possible that the Fund will hold very significant sums, as it is a serious option to ask any shareholders, who choose to sell or are forced to sell their private shares, to invest the proceeds of the sale into the Phoenix Fund. Small shareholders in Manchester United hold around 18% of the company right now - this stake is worth ?140 million pounds at Glazer's offer price. We think we can attract a significant portion of that stake towards the Fund. With growth through interest, fundraising and new contributions plus the option to leverage these funds with friendly financiers like Nomura, it could have some real financial punch. Not only would we be forcing Glazer to borrow to the maximum to buy us out, we would be using his money to buy the club back. This has a pleasurable irony for fans who today feel helpless in the face of his predatory aggression - well here is a chance to use Glazer's money against him and recover our club to its rightful owners - the supporters. |
Boycott EVERYTHING else. Below from the Times
‘There is a feeling of siege at the club. On Thursday evening, as fans protested at Old Trafford, Gill telephoned all United’s commercial partners, including shirt sponsor Vodafone and kit-maker Nike, to reassure them their businesses would not be damaged by the Glazer takeover. The sponsors themselves seemed less sure. ‘“It’s potentially disastrous for United,” said one sponsor’s executive. “Our involvement with United is predicated on the team’s success on the pitch, but the disruption that this is going to cause will make it very difficult for the team in the foreseeable future. And any boycott of our products by fans would entirely defeat the logic of our partnership in the club.'

"With a 75% stake Mr Glazer would also leave the holders of the remaining stock with next to no power." 90% + 1 акция вынудят Глэйзера купить все оставшиеся акции и заплатить болельщикам деньги.

Although SU have clearly done some great work in recent days (and their e-mail yesterday was spot on) I think they are misleading people in today's e-mail. We will not get rid of Glazer immediately if people don't renew ST/LMTB's etc. We have got to be thinking about a much longer battle. I'm very worried that SU think we can win this quickly, we can't and we won't. It's probably going to take a few years and we must be prepared for that. Telling people that we can win this quickly is misleading and we need to make sure that we stick together long term. We will inevitably have different points of view over things like FC United and renewing ST's etc but the absolutely critical thing is that we have a clear idea of the ultimate goal which is the long term ownership status of MUFC. We might argue among ourselves on tactics but the strategy must be consistent. This will take time and we must make sure that everyone is geared up for a long war and not a quick battle. We will win but it will take time and if we mislead people on this now we run the risk of them drifting away from us. In the meantime let's look forward to more men in black than we've ever seen before on Saturday and really hammer those cockney twats. Cheers.
http://www.redissue.co.uk/news/loadn...TMNW&id=222560 A public meeting will take place at the Methodist Hall in Oldham Street in Manchester tomorrow night. Manchester United supporters will make a pilgrimage there to grieve over the corpse of their club. Some of them, in the great non-conformist traditions of the old venue opposite Affleck's Palace, will agitate for protest. They will argue they can hold on to their season tickets, keep going to Old Trafford and try to destabilise the new regime of Malcolm Glazer from the inside. Others will say that is pointless self-delusion and that all attempts at dissent will be stamped out. Smiley's one of those. He wrote a brutally honest piece in the Red Issue fanzine last week pointing out the futility of action from within. "Remember," he said, "Old Trafford was like watching football in a police state when it was a simple PLC regime. It's soon to be a dictatorship." Others will stick to their mantra of No Customers, No Profits. They're the fans who say Saturday's FA Cup Final will be their last match as a United fan. However much it hurts them, they are going to end their years of allegiance to England's most famous club. Some of them want to build a new club from the ground up. They have already had discussions with the founders of AFC Wimbledon. They have been given indications they might be able to start at Unibond League level. There are tentative plans to adopt The Willows, Salford's rugby league ground, as their home. Some have already dismissed them as hopeless romantics. Some have scorned them as shallow attention-seekers who will crumble when they don't get their way. But I think all the United fans who stream into the Methodist Hall after work tomorrow deserve our backing. I admire their militancy, for a start. I admire their refusal to roll over and just accept that might is right. I admire them for having some principles. I admire them for caring enough about what happens to their club to try to do something about it. Because the Glazer takeover of Manchester United is about far more than the health of our biggest club. It's about taking another giant step to rip our national game away from its traditional supporter base. "What a lot of the media don't seem able to grasp is that we are not protesting about Glazer just because we are worried about our club," Jules Spencer, the chair of the Independent Manchester United Supporters Association, told me yesterday. "We are not believers in Manchester United at all costs. Much as I revelled in Leeds going down at the end of last season, deep down I was thinking that was two fixtures a season I was really going to miss and that probably weren't going to be back for a long time. "I don't want to see a man come in and break up the revenue-sharing agreements that are in place because he is so desperate to make more money to service his massive debts. "I don't want Bury and Rochdale and Stockport to be pushed over the edge of the chasm they're already teetering on because of another man's greed. I don't want a situation where no working-class people and no youngsters can come to games because of the price and because everything is going to be slanted even more to the corporates. "Sooner or later there's going to be a backlash against the way football in our country is going and Glazer is just going to accelerate that. I want United to grow and prosper but not at any cost." And you know what? I agree with him. Absolutely 100 per cent. I don't want the bad old days of crumbling stadiums back but I'm tired of people like me sitting back in our cynicism and our resignation and doing nothing while the atmosphere in our stadia dies and football continues to disenfranchise its traditional base. Something important is happening here. Something worth fighting for. Something bigger than Manchester United. So all power to the fans who walk into the Methodist Hall tomorrow night. All power to them for standing up and speaking out. It's just a shame there aren't more like them. |

[1] Not For Sale Statement Friday, May 20, 2005 We'll Never Die! Fight Glazer's Occupation of Manchester United The Independent Manchester United Supporters Association, Shareholders United and the fanzines Red Issue, Red News and United We Stand - who together represent tens of thousands of Manchester United fans - remain implacably opposed to the purchase of Manchester United Plc by the Malcolm Glazer family. We regard the Glazer family as in temporary occupation of Old Trafford. We are calling on all Manchester United fans to continue the fight against Glazer and to unseat him from Old Trafford. Reclaim the club! We have all been angry at the purchase of our club as if it were a mere commodity; we are angry at what he is going to do to the club in order to repay his colossal debts; we are angry at the exclusion of supporters interests. But anger is not enough, now is the time for action. Glazer's business plan is based on a knife edge. It's time for us to show that the customer is king. Below are a list of things that you can do to get Glazer out of our club. Keep Up the Fight! Here's TEN THINGS YOU CAN DO 1. Protest at the FA Cup Final We are calling on all United fans to dress in black at the FA Cup Final, to mark the passing of Manchester United into the Glazer regime, to bring black banners and to leave nobody in any doubt about how we feel. We are fighting for the history and tradition of our club: this is a symbolic, peaceful protest which also respects the history and tradition of a competition which United are the record holders. Go to the Prince of Wales pub in Cardiff from 11.30 am on the day of the match. 2. Build for a Public Rally It is intended to hold an public rally at the Apollo Theatre in Manchester. We need you to build for this by getting as many United fans you know to come. Help build the rally by leafleting at the Cup final on Saturday. Collect leaflets from the Prince of Wales pub in Cardiff from 11.30am. 3. Use Your Customer Power on Glazer **Don't buy Club Merchandise Stop the money going to Glazer. Boycott all products from the club. This includes catering on match day, merchandise from the club shop and replica shirts and strips. Give back your Manchester United credit card and anything else from which Glazer will profit. Encourage other fans not to buy club product. Write to Manchester United Merchandising, Manchester United, Old Trafford, Manchester M16 0RA to tell them why you are boycotting their product. **Cancel MUTV Subscriptions Stop the money going to Glazer. Many fans have already cancelled their MUTV subscriptions. You can do the same! Ring MUTV to cancel your subscription immediately and inform them why. **Boycott the Club's Sponsors Make Glazer as unpopular as possible with the club's official sponsors and minimise Glazer's income from their association. Many fans have already cancelled Vodafone subscriptions and are vowing not to buy Nike products. Boycott all products and services from the following companies and write to let them know why you are doing so: VODAFONE Mr Arun Sarin, Chief Executive, Vodafone Group PLC, Vodafone House, The Connection, Newbury, Berkshire RG14 2FN NIKE, Mr Dan Loeb, General Manager, Nike (UK) Ltd, 1 Victory Way, Doxford Intl Business Park, Sunderland SR3 3XF AUDI UK, Mr Kevin Rose, Managing Director, Audi UK, Yeomans Drive, Blakelands, Milton Keynes MK14 5AN BUDWEISER Budweiser Consumer Department, Anheuser-Busch Europe Ltd, Freepost LON7267, Richmond TW9 2BR CENTURY RADIO, Mr David Mansfield, Chief Executive, GCap Media PLC, 30 Leicester Square, London WC2H 7LA FUJIFILM (UK), Mr Hiroshi Saigusa, Managing Director, Fujifilm UK, Fujifilm House, 125 Finchley Road London, NW3 6HY LADBROKES Mr David Michels, Chief Executive, Hilton Group plc, Maple Court, Central Park, Reeds Crescent, Watford, Herts WD24 4QQ PEPSI UK Mr Richard Collins, Director of Brand Marketing, Britvic House, Broomfield Road, Chelmsford CM1 1TU SCHICK-WILKINSON SWORD Customer Relations, Sword House, Totteridge Road, High Wycombe, Bucks HP13 6EJ 4. Boycotting Matches Many fans have already decided that they cannot renew their season tickets and give their money to Glazer, so they are boycotting matches. This is the most direct way of stopping Glazer getting his hands on our cash and stopping him succeeding. Others feel that they cannot stop going to the game, but have vowed to carry the fight on 'within'. We support the personal decisions of all fans who remain actively campaigning against Glazer. 5. Use Your Shareholder Power If you're a private shareholder, your shares do count. Do nothing until you here from Shareholders United. SU will be contacting you with further plans about what to do with your shares in the coming days. Contact Shareholders United at http://www.sharehodlersuntied.org www.sharehodlersuntied.org or 0870 742 3025. For those who have made the ultimate sacrifice please add your name to the list of fans giving up ST, LMTB and OU Membership at www.mufcrollofhonour.com 6. Call on Gill and the Boards to Resign We want no cooperation with Glazer and call on leading staff not to become part of his machine. We call on Chief Executive David Gill, the board of Manchester United Plc and the board of Manchester United Football Club to lead by example and to resign in protest at the take-over. We request that they do this at the earliest opportunity, as we do not see how in all honour they can continue to execute a business plan that they themselves describe as 'aggressive' and 'damaging'. Write to them and urge them to resign: David Gill, Manchester United, Old Trafford, Manchester M16 0RA. 7. Make Glazer and His Backers Aware of Your Anger We intend to make the Glazer project unworkable and you can help. **Extraordinary General Meeting In order for Glazer to make Manchester United a private company, he has to hold an Extraordinary General Meeting of all shareholders. We can protest at the EGM and, if too many of the 30,000+ small shareholders turn up, the meeting may have to be adjourned. If this happens again, it may have to be adjourned again. The longer the club remains out of his private hands, the more difficult it becomes for Glazer. Look out for the announcement of the EGM and turn up when it happens. **Legal Challenge Shareholders United are looking into a legal challenge to the take over in which any 50 (or more) shareholders can challenge Glazerнs attempts to take the club private. For more information about how you can get involved, contact Shareholders United. **Phones, Fax and Email It would be most unfortunate for the smooth running of the Glazer regime if fans were to to contact the club, all at the same time. As such we are calling on fans to be careful: Not to call phone lines and fax machines at the same time Not to send emails Not to order large numbers of unwanted products Not to telephone key staff so that they cannot help Glazer We would also like to remind fans that under the Data Protection Act that they can demand from the club any information which is held on them within 28 days of a request. Write to the Chief Executive, Manchester United, Old Trafford, Manchester, M16 0RA to request a copy of all the data they hold on you. 8. Write in Protest The take-over of an historic Manchester institution by an American corporate raider has been allowed to happen because of a lack of proper regulation on who is allowed to own football clubs in this country. English regulations are far weaker than stronger leagues such as Spain and Germany where supporters have a controlling interest to protect the club. The Glazer take over now threatens the very fabric of English football. Write to express your anger at the take-over and call for the regulatory bodies to act against it: Premier League: Richard Scudamore, Chief Executive, FAPL, 12 Connaught Place, London W2 2ET FA: Brian Barwick, Chair, The FA, 20 Soho Square, London W1D 4FA Prime Minister, Tony Blair, 10 Downing St, London SW1A 2AA Sports Minister: Richard Caborn, Minister for Sport, DCMS, 2-4 Cockspur St, London SW1Y 5DH Your MP, c/o House of Commons, Westminster, London SW1A 0AA 9. Challenge the Media Some in the media are saying that the protest is over and that Glazer's take-over is complete. We need to keep reiterating our opposition to it and to make sure the media are aware of the scope of actions which we will be undertaking under the next few months. Glazerнs people will also be spinning against us. ANYTIME you hear the media mis-representing the campaign against Glazerнs company, or assumptions that there is nothing fans can do, phone, write, text and email and tell everyone what is going on. Also, support those in the press who are backing us. 10. Contact and Join Us: http://www.imusa.org http://www.shareholders.org http://www.redissue.co.uk http://www.rednews.co.uk http://www.uws.co.uk |

[43] Danish Shareholders United member Casper Heiselberg
Friday, May 20, 2005 "Following Malcolm Glazer's takeover of Manchester United, the Danish supporters of this great club would like to show our feelings about the matter. Therefore we will on Saturday hold a protest march through the capital of Denmark, Copenhagen, to show our sympathy with the city of Manchester and the football world in general, which has lost one of the greatest clubs ever. "We expect plenty of Danish reds to show up, and have received confirmation from Sweden about a Swedish delegation, that will attend the march too. The Mancunians are not alone on this matter. We do not want this American in our club and we certainly do not want him to bring our club into debt." "We do not believe that his intentions are good for the club, the history or the supporters of this great club. He might have bought the PLC, but he will never buy the pride, the history or the dignity of Manchester United Football Club. "United is not for sale! We would like to encourage every Manchester United-supporter to step up their fight against Glazer. Join Shareholders United. Alone you can do nothing. Together we can be United and save United."

KEEP THE FIGHT. |
Red Issue has received a claim from elements of the Manchester Education Committee that they tracked Joel Glazer on a secret visit to Carrington on Wednesday, where he allegedly met Alex Ferguson and spent two and a half hours at the complex.

Red News
Red News - The Future It has been a horrible, gut wrenching, soul searching few weeks for all of us. As individuals we have been forced to think the unthinkable - to reassess whether and how we will continue to support Manchester United in its present form, the club around which our lives have revolved for as long as we can remember. We resent the situation we have been forced into, we want nothing more than to enjoy our football, but we cannot hide from the reality. Some readers of Red News have, rightly, asked us to state our position, and to outline the future of Red News in this strange new world. Thousands of United supporters have searched their consciences. Some have decided to stay away from Old Trafford until Glazer has gone; others will continue to attend games, whilst denying the owners any additional expenditure - on merchandise, catering etc. Others will renew season tickets, but will refuse to pay additional sums on cup matches. These are tough individual decisions. They do not only affect the supporters making those decisions - they affect their families, their children - the next generation of United supporters. No two sets of circumstances are totally identical - some fans have been to every match for 40 years, others are younger; some go home and away, some follow the team in Europe; some have season tickets, others buy match tickets; some collect the programme, others never touch it; some have a few shares, others have significant sums tied up in the club. There are so many variables, so many permutations on decisions, and on possible actions. That is why we, as Reds, should respect the decisions of our comrades. No decision has been taken lightly. Red News remains committed to the belief that whatever personal choices you have made, those are the right choices for you. We recognise too that supporters have the right to change their minds, to take further action - perhaps to cancel their season tickets at some later point - as circumstances change, perhaps, for example, if the name of Old Trafford itself is changed to satisfy the demands of the creditors who will now encircle our club. The fight for the future of our club is one that must be fought on many fronts, and it is imperative that we now stand United in our singular aim and objective of seeing the end of Glazer's control of United. We can, and we must, all work together to achieve it. Inevitably, there have been disagreements. Different circumstances breed different standpoints. But the differences are around the reaction - there is no difference in the revulsion we feel at the recent turn of events. We believe that any divisions between United supporters would only benefit the enemy. Whatever our views on the best course of action, we should agree to focus on the end result, and on that which unites us all. On this, all of us at Red News stand United together. But what of the future of Red News? Red News exists to give a voice to United fans. We have a right, as fans, to that voice. We will not be silenced by recent events. Red News will go on. Red News will continue to be available outside Old Trafford. This isn't because of financial considerations and self interest - anyone who knows our financial situation will know why we do this, and it isn't for the money. We firmly believe that the folding of Red News, or any of the fanzines for that matter, would be music to the ears of the Bearded Gimp. We have a right to exist, we will not be driven away. At this point in time Red News has contact with United only through the Communications Department of the club, and with the playing staff. All levels of communication with the executive of the club have ceased. It is only the Football Club that we support, not the money men who so shamelessly ditched the words 'Football Club' from our badge, and those who control and exploit United for their own personal greed. Some of you may not know what to do next, wondering what one person can achieve. But already the actions of the Not For Sale coalition have had an impact. The actions of individual United fans do add up. We can create an unstoppable ripple as good forces combine. Together we are a strong voice. Everyone has a part to play, however large or small. Remember that our cause is just. We intend that Red News will continue to stay loyal to its tradition, mixing humour and gravity as we have done for the past 18 years. We will inform and give voice to all loyal fans, and we will try to educate those who for now don't care. Because we believe that deep down they DO care, perhaps afraid that they have been propelled into something they didn't want - just like the rest of us. All the time Red News will try to stand up for decent, honest United fans who have been thrust into this nightmare. We will support initiatives that will plan for the day when Glazer is gone. Sooner or later he will no longer control United, and it is imperative that strategies are in place so that we are not outsiders, unable to control our own destiny and the destiny of our beloved United. Long term plans are as vital as short term actions. Red News backs the legal methods being used against Glazer's control. As has been said elsewhere, look at what you yourself can do. Every little helps. In the coming weeks and months we hope that Red News will be a voice for YOU, remaining 100% independent, unofficial and available for United fans wherever they may be to share opinion and provide the voice that Glazer does not want to hear. This is OUR club, not HIS. In fact, we are the club. There may be different views on the paths we have taken these past few weeks but now is the time to look forward. Whatever your standpoint, stand United with each and every supporter who is opposed to Glazer, because he has shown scant regard for the well-being of our football club and its traditions. As we wrote a few weeks ago: "United has arisen from the ashes before, and through the devotion of its supporters, in their various ways, will do so again. We'll never die. We look forward to the day when the flag of liberation is flown over Old Trafford once again, with the words Manchester United Football Club restored to the colours." There will be many more twists and turns in this, and it may be a long battle, but United will be free. |

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ AND BE READY TO ACT We are in the process of writing to all of our 32,000 members informing them of their options in respect of their shares held in the SU share scheme (SUSS). The letter has to be compliant with regulatory requirements, so it will be a long and wordy document, but we have to act in our members' best interests and in accordance with the law at all times. The letter will be arriving in members' letterboxes later this week and requires an instant response, given the very tight deadlines imposed on us by Glazer and our brokers. We must have your reply by Wednesday 8 June, otherwise we will be selling your shares on your behalf in accordance with our SUSS rules. SU is not allowed to give any financial advice, but we can give guidance as to what your directors and committee members are doing. We intend to keep a number of shares as our emotional investment and to ensure that as minority shareholders, we can make our voices heard as loudly as possible. There are a number of interesting tactics we can apply if we can remain shareholders. However we will be accepting the offer for most of our shares (so that we can put Glazer's money to work for us and maximise his debt) to create a 'Phoenix Fund' that we intend to use to buy our club back when the opportunity arises. The value of those 18% of shares held by the smaller shareholders is around 140 million pounds so this is potentially significant if we can capture even a fraction of that into the Phoenix Fund. This is the option which we think will best further our continuing independence campaign and we urge all of our members to give this option serious consideration ("transfer part back to me and sell the rest with proceeds going to Phoenix Fund" option 4 on the web form or option 1 if you do not wish to transfer any shares but do wish to sell all your shares with proceeds going into your Phoenix Fund account. Option 1 is the default if we do not receive any instructions from you by the deadline. Note that sale and transfer of funds to the Phoenix Fund account is the only option which incurs no charges). The letter to members and the Form to be completed and returned to SU is now available to be viewed on our website, at http://www.shareholdersunited.org/shares We need original signed letters though, whether you complete the online Form or not. Transfers of shares back to members incurs stamp duty and other costs and therefore we must have payment for transfers no later than 13th June. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE STILL NEED THE ORIGINAL SIGNED LETTERS TOO EVEN IF THE LETTER ARRIVES AFTER THE WEDNESDAY DEADLINE AS WE WILL ACT UPON YOUR ELECTRONIC INSTRUCTION IF NO PAPER INSTRUCTION IS RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE IF RECEIVED BEFORE THE DEADLINE, PAPER INSTRUCTIONS WILL OVERRIDE ANY OTHER INSTRUCTION |
FC United: Those of you who were at the Apollo rally will know that the NFS coalition is still very much in place. FC United is just as much a part of the anti-Glazer movement as is the fans’ boycott campaign or our own Phoenix Fund. We have to support each other, in or out of Old Trafford, with FCU or not - unity is everything. But each individual fan, whether a member of SU or not, has to make his or her decision about these things – like whether or not to go to matches under Glazer. Some are renewing some are not. No-one can make that decision for you. The same goes for FC United – some of you are very much against the idea of a breakaway, some are passionately in favour. It is an individual choice but it is vital that, whatever our choice, we all stay in the fight together. |

IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ AND ACT NOW PHOENIX FUND - PROGRESS UPDATE FC UNITED - MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD IMPORTANT - PLEASE READ AND ACT NOW Your SUSS shareholding is now: * Please use this number as your total SUSS shareholding when completing the form at (http://www.shareholdersunited.org/shares ) AND the postal form (which you can print out at the end of the online process) to tell us what decision you have made regarding your shares. We are writing to all of our 32,000 members informing them of their options in respect of their shares held in the SU share scheme (SUSS). Many of you will have already received the letter. Those who have not can complete the online form and print and return the response page at the end of the online process. The letter has to be compliant with regulatory requirements, so it is a long and wordy document, but we have to act in our members' best interests and in accordance with the law at all times. The letter requires an instant response (please do this via the website now http://www.shareholdersunited.org/shares if you have not yet received your letter or in case your postal response does not get to us in time), given the very tight deadlines imposed on us by Glazer and our brokers. We must have your reply by Wednesday 8 June, otherwise we will be selling your shares on your behalf in accordance with our SUSS rules. If you wish your shares to be convereted to cash in your Phoenix Fund account you do not need to do anything. SU is not allowed to give any financial advice, but we can give guidance as to what your directors and committee members are doing. We intend to keep a number of shares as our emotional investment and to ensure that as minority shareholders, we can make our voices heard as loudly as possible. But we will be accepting the offer for most of our shares, so that we can put Glazer's money to work for us, to create a 'Phoenix Fund' that we hope will one day be used to buy our club back. This is the option which we think will best further our continuing independence campaign and we urge all of our members to give this option serious consideration ("transfer part back to me and sell the rest" - option 4 or if you want all shares to be transferred into the Phoenix Fund it is option 1). Please note that you must complete the online form before Wednesday June 8th, 3pm AND ALSO send us the postal version immediately. If you wish your shares to be converted to cash held in your 'Phoenix Fund' account* you need do nothing and this will happen automatically. You do not need to send your form by post if you are selecting this option. *The structure and terms and condition relating to the Phoenix Fund are currently being drawn up so monies will be held in your name within the SUSS bank account until the PF is formally established or you choose to withdraw the funds at a later date. We still need signed letters and payment where applicable though, whether you complete the online Form or not, as transfers of shares back to members incurs stamp duty and other costs. PLEASE NOTE THAT WE STILL NEED A SIGNED LETTERS TOO EVEN IF THE LETTER ARRIVES AFTER THE WEDNESDAY DEADLINE AS WE WILL ACT UPON YOUR ELECTRONIC INSTRUCTION IF NO PAPER INSTRUCTION IS RECEIVED BY THE DEADLINE IF RECEIVED BEFORE THE DEADLINE, PAPER INSTRUCTIONS WILL OVERRIDE ANY OTHER INSTRUCTION PHOENIX FUND - PROGRESS UPDATE Projections suggest that more than 98% of members will opt for conversion of all or most of their shares into cash in their Phoenix Fund account. We will be making further announcements with regard to the precise structure of the fund shortly but we have to prioritise processing of members responses to our letter (and online) due to the extremely short timescales that have been imposed on us by Glazer's actions. We are also writing to the 41,700 Manchester United shareholders who hold shares outside our share scheme (private shareholders accounted for 140 million pounds worth of shares at the last count) so we hope to get a good response from them too. This will give us a great launchpad for the new fund. FC UNITED - MESSAGE FROM THE BOARD Many members will have seen the press release issued yesterday by the Steering Committee for FC United. The Steering Committee has asked us to bring this to the attention of our members as soon as possible as there is a tight deadline for registration of the new club for next season. Those of you who were at the Apollo rally will know that the NFS coalition is still very much in place. FC United is just as much a part of the anti- Glazer movement as is the fans▓ boycott campaign or our own Phoenix Fund. We have to support each other, in or out of Old Trafford, with FCU or not - unity is everything. But each individual fan, whether a member of SU or not, has to make his or her decision about these things - like whether or not to go to matches under Glazer. Some are renewing some are not. No-one can make that decision for you. The same goes for FC United - some of you are very much against the idea of a breakaway, some are passionately in favour. It is an individual choice but it is vital that, whatever our choice, we all stay in the fight together. If you want to find out more about FC United, please go to their website www.fc-utd.co.uk for more information and on how to register as a founder member. IF YOU ARE CONSIDERING MAKING A PLEDGE TO FC UNITED THAT IS FINE, BUT WE WOULD ASK YOU TO PUT THE PHOENIX FUND AT THE TOP OF YOUR PRIORITIES. SU was asked to put forward a representative on the FCU Steering Committee (your Chair in fact), but we turned it down because our focus for the next few weeks has to be on the SU share scheme and getting the boycott campaign and the Phoenix Fund up and running successfully. It is vital that we make the process as smooth as possible for our members and that the Phoenix Fund is launched with maximum funding. For the avoidance of doubt (some members have queried this) it should be made clear that FC Untied is a completely independent project from Shareholders United and the Phoenix Fund and any money put into the Phoenix Fund will remain in your own account for the purpose of building a 'war chest' to buy back Manchester United when Glazer pulls out or is forced to sell. As stated in our release yesterday, we will be announcing various positive steps on these projects in the coming weeks. We have only just begun this fight and we intend to win it. |
FC United
"We are determined to bring FC United into existence. Our bid to be admitted into the North West Counties League will be made at their AGM on June 19 and we are hopeful of a favourable response. This isn't a knee-jerk reaction to the Glazer takeover which we are totally opposed to. We are not stupid. We know we can't compete against the might of Manchester United. But what we want to create is a football club for all those fans who will not accept what is taking place at Old Trafford. "We have already got pledge forms signed by over 1,000 United fans who wish to become paying members of the new club so there is money in the kitty. It is that money we intend to use to engage the services of a manager who knows North-West soccer inside out which is why we made our approach to Brian Kidd. We understand the reasons why he turned us down but there are other people equally well qualified we would like to speak to. "We are not day-dreamers who are thinking that some time in the future FC United are going to be in the Premiership. Our ambitions for the new club stretch no further at the moment than getting into the Conference one day. Our reasons for forming the new club are simple. We want a club which is owned and run by its members on the lines of Barcelona. We no longer want to be associated with a club owned by an American family who care nothing for ordinary supporters. "We want United fans to come and watch a team that kicks off at three o'clock every Saturday. We want supporters to be able to stand with their mates and enjoy a game of football just like they once did at Old Trafford. Even at the level FC United will be playing at, we still believe the fans will turn up. "If you take the various supporters' organisations who have turned their back on Old Trafford because of the Glazer takeover, the new club could have a potential fan base in the region of 40,000." |

[29] Letter to Red News Thursday, June 9, 2005 The situation is this: Glazer IS going to get all the shares - I don't think I doubt that. I DO believe he will surpass the number he needs to force us to sell. BUT if he doesn't the value of our shares will be ZERO and a lot of people (and I am included in that) just CANNOT afford to lose their money. I've had my shares since 1979. I've given many, many years of my life to keeping a hold of them. Like others I've failed. Now is the time to take the action Shareholders United suggest. We sell to him (bar a few shares - say 10/20 which we keep just in case he doesn't make the compulsory purchase limit) and put the money in the Phoenix Fund and we wait until that fund can buy back a controlling interest in the Club. It will take a few years. It may take longer than I have on this earth. BUT we must try. In the meantime we must boycott the Club in the way that we see fit. For my part I just can't give up my season ticket. There are two reasons for this. One is honourable and one is plain weakness. I am a drug addict. My drug is Manchester United. I was born with the addiction already in my system. I am weak. I cannot give it up. My dad could NOT get to Old Trafford without me. Fact. He is an old chap now and he needs me. He wants to go. He has been going for SEVENTY years and I can't deny him his wish for the very few years he has left. The above said, Glazer will almost certainly price us out of it in the VERY near future. HOWEVER I will NEVER buy another piece of merchandise until Glazer is gone. Whilst I am not the day-tripping-spend-loads-in-the-megastore person that many are, I do spend a fair bit over each year. Every Christmas for as long as I can remember my present from my mam and dad was a selection box and a Roy of the Rovers annual. When Roy finished my mam was in a fit as to what she should buy me. "A pair of United slippers" I told her. And thus it has been these last few years. NO MORE. I'll just have a selection box. If everybody on this (and other) List (and ALL their friends) did likewise his profit WOULD drop - of that there can be NO doubt. If we ALL refused to buy ANYTHING from the Club then he WOULD be defeated. He can only take ticket prices so far before ALL match-going regulars (poor people like me in the main) will NOT be able to afford to go - no matter HOW MUCH they still want to. He is NEVER going to get the television deal he needs as there is far too much vested (financial) interest in that money by the FA and EUFA. They could not operate if he took such a large slice of THEIR cake. As soon as he really threatens that the Government will step in and see him off. So if he has NO (additional) television monies and WE stop his merchandise revenue he MUST lose. It IS that simple. The Phoenix Fund IS a GOOD idea. We can all deposit our monies (however great or small the sum - and THAT is a relative term of course) in the Fund and watch our money grow. If we ALL do it then the amount that the Fund will have on deposit will make that Fund a VERY, VERY big depositor and thus it (the Fund) will have a great deal of (financial) clout. I am pretty dim and I can see that that is a reality. So that is what I will do. I will admit my failure in not being able to 'kick my habit'. I will continue to buy my season ticket for as long as I can afford to (not long I don't think). I WILL NOT spend ONE PENNY on Manchester United merchandise until he is gone. I WILL deposit the money I get for my shares in the Phoenix Fund. I will pray to my God that I live long enough to see the end of this terrible man and a return to the day when ALL Manchester United supporters can retake what was theirs in the first place. I pray to live long enough to see the day when Manchester United returns to US. We ARE the people - WE ARE MANCHESTER UNITED. Let NO person EVER doubt that. Keep the faith, Pete |

I dont know where I stand United wise anymore. I cant really afford nor have the inclination to go to Old Trafford anymore. Where's the north stand? Wheres the south stand? Wheres the megastore? Is that the programme? Isnt this pub noisy? Why are all these people just drinking on the streets? Could you sit down please? I've not paid my money to see this rubbish. Toot toot on a plastic horn Sunglasses with "m a n u" on the lenses Travelling with you mates to the match splitting up 10 minutes before kick off people leaving with 20 minutes to go Meeting up 20 minutes after the match. Not being able to get a beer Wheres the metrolink stop? Clueless bints yawning on the arms of fucking Team Bekkum wannabees Evisu 3 haircuts on the same head fat men in fake united shirts people that think the badge from the 68 ECF is a fucking Everton badge people that think the 58 fa cup final badge is an old germany shirt These things, in my opinion, are more divisive than FC United. I'm not 100% behind FC United, but i am 100% behind those that are. Why? Why not. These are people that i've been stuck in escorts with, people that i've been stuck on trains with, people i've sung with, people i've shared a beer with, people I have actually been United with. http://www.rnforum.co.uk/phpBB2/view...=9686&start=30 |
